About The Working Manager
Incorporated in 2004, The Working Manager has grown out of the teaching and consultancy work that we, and in particular Dr David West, carried out with great success around the world - in Asia, Europe and the Americas. You can find out more about our Editorial Board and our Senior Team here.

We pulled together the lecture notes and consulting tools we had been using, to form the basis of a website aimed at practising managers.

The intention has always been to build an intelligent site - to treat users as adults, to give them the opportunity to think about management, to debate it and to come to their own conclusions about what style of management works for them.

All of our "Advanced Learning Environment" solutions are constructed with Professor David A. Kolb’s theory of Learning Styles in mind, so that they appeal as much to those who like to experiment, to those who like to study in depth and to those who prefer to follow a set course of learning.

Our long experience in management education taught us that pure theory has varying benefits. Some people like to start with theory and work it out from there. However, most people want to start with practical advice and to connect their learning with day to day experience. For this reason, The Working Manager has focused, since its inception, on the working manager - practical advice for busy people. The design has always incorporated the fact that some people want to drop in for a quick and practical tip while others want to explore the art of management.

While the site is already huge (and would fill about 6,000 pages if fully printed out), we add new learning material ten times a year. The idea is that a client’s Management Academy also acts as a monthly management magazine - always something new, always something to bring the learner back again.

Currently, more than 50,000 managers, from a wide range of clients benefit from learning solutions powered by The Working Manager Ltd.
